Welcome back folks, it’s a new week and I’ve got some new reviews!
Let’s talk Voopoo. They’ve been hitting us pretty hard over the last year, they hit a home run with the development of their first POD Mod’s, the Drag S/Drag X, and have been pummelling us with products ever since. Sometimes using the moniker, “Drag”, and more recently the “Argus” range.
Not quite sure of the difference? I have to admit, even I’m getting a little confused between the two, as the ranges are really very similar. Both ranges have single battery Pod Mods, both have dual battery Tank Pods, there is a real crossover where that line between the two has gotten very fuzzy.
Anyway I digress, I’ve got another Pod Mod from Voopoo to review today!
Let’s take a look at what Voopoo have done with the new Argus Pro!!
Big thanks goes to Health Cabin for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info
As I mentioned, the product names and time-frame that they’ve been released is a little confusing, but I like to think of the Argus range as a slightly upgraded Drag Pod Mod range. With the Argus Pro most likened to the Drag S, and the Argus X the same to the Drag X that was previously released.
The new Argus Pod Mods are a little more sporty looking with their black frame (instead of silver) with sleeker lines, making them a little more streamlined, and not quite as bulky as the original Drag Pod Mods.
Another thing to note is the obvious outdoorsy look to them, with rubber surrounds around the POD, belt clip on on the top edge, and cover for the USB port, the new Argus’s are designed to be a little more rugged than their Drag Pod Mod cousins.
The Argus Pro directly relates to the original Drag S being that it has an internal battery, and the Argus X to the Drag X due to its use of an external 18650 battery.
Lets take a closer look.
The Body
The Argus Pro is quite an attactive looking unit, with it’s sleeker lines and less bulky body shape. It still looks very much like a Drag S, but now with a little more black and a few gimmicky little additions.
The main body, while not dissimilar, has changed, with a little more metal, and although it might just be an illusion, seems to feel a little heavier.
There’s a shaped bezel that runs around the back section, with a recessed leather padded heel, adding a little more style than we saw on the Drag S, and providing a little bit of a different feel in the hand. It’s really comfortable, but with a little more going on.
Up top, the same Pod recess has made another appearance, it’s identical to the Drag S, with it’s circular contact points, and round PnP Pods.
Alongside, you’ll find a little belt ring, included I’m guessing so that you can hang the Argus Pro from your belt, or lanyard if you so wish. It’s functional, but a little annoying if you don’t use it having it flapping around as it does.
The same airflow adjustment is back again with a similar small lever that slides around opening up an airflow slot on each side of the device.
The front is very similar to the Drag S with the exception of a rectangular fire button instead of the original ’round’ one on the Drag S. The screen is the very much the same, I don’t notice any difference, with some up/down buttons below that, and a USB Type-C charge port covered by a small silicone cover.
On the bottom is a knurled rounded section that kind of looks like you should be able to unscrew it to insert an external battery, but it doesn’t it’s pure styling, and I’m assuming is keeping up with the styling of the Argus X which does in fact use an external battery.
The POD Tank & Coils
You’ll get one Pod in the box, which is identical to the Pods used in the Drag S and Drag X, in fact they’re the same used in the Drag Max also.
Made from PCTG plastic, with a 4.5ml e-liquid capacity, magnetic base, and taking PnP coils, these Pods are not something we haven’t seen before. It is really cool to see so many devices using these Pods though, they are great and an excellent way to switch and swap flavours between devices.
One thing that is new, is this weird silicone cover that Voopoo shipped with the Pod. I’m guessing it’s to further push that outdoor, tougher and more resilient look that the Argus series has, but in reality it has a fairly poor fit and simply falls off all of the time. I’ve removed it (it fell off) and placed it somewhere for safe keeping (I’ve lost it somewhere…).
You’ll get 2 coils in the kit, both PnP coils. With both pushing out some impressive flavour, and lasting quite a long while before losing flavour or getting burnt out. And I’d expect nothing less from the PnP range of coils, which are simply fantastic.

Recommended Wattage: 60 – 80 watts

Airflow
The airflow is similar to what we’ve seen before on the Drag S and Drag X devices. Built into the device at the top is a sliding toggle, that allows you to open or close an airflow slot on each side of the device.
It’s a nice level of airflow, and the adjustment is smooth and fluid. This is more of a Direct to Lung device, although you can get your airflow to go quite tight for use with Voopoo’s PnP MTL coils if you so wish.

Battery
As mentioned earlier, the Argus Pro is the version with the built in battery. It’s a slight improvement on the Drag S’s 2500mah battery, with the Argus Pro’s battery coming in at 3000mah for an extra 500mah vaping time.
You’ll charge it via the USB Type-C port on the front of the device which is capable of charging at 2A, to get you vaping that much sooner!
Also improved is the maximum wattage. The Argus Pro will now go up to 80 Watts, while the Drag S was only able to push 60 Watts.
Voopoo have put a silicone flap over the USB charge port on the Argus Pro. It’s a nice idea, but in reality, it’s bloody annoying, and gets in the way when trying to plug the charge cable in. A little more length on the silicone flap might make it more tolerable.
Filling
Filling is super simple, and we’ve seen this before in previous reviews.
Remove the POD, lift up the silicone stopper, fill the PCTG tank with e-liquid, push the stopper back in and put the Pod back on. Couldn’t be simpler!
Any Leaks?
As with all Voopoo products using the PnP Pods and coils, you’ll get a little seepage at the bottom of the Pod. This is due to the PnP coils being so good at wicking, they eventually over-wick and seep e-liquid below the coil, so you’ll benefit from a quick wipe down whenever you’re refilling.
This is really only a big deal if you’re taking a break away from your vape, so if you’re going to leave it for some time, remove the Pod.
Don’t get me wrong this is not leakage, just a little seepage. Thankfully the days of really leaky Pods from larger companies are well and truly behind us.
Usage
There’s nothing ground breaking here, the Argus Pro is just like the Drag S.
It comes with Smart Wattage mode, and also RBA Mode, and is switchable between button firing, and auto draw mode also. Yep you read right, the Argus Pro has an auto-draw mode, something that I thought was fantastic on the Drag S, and now very much welcomed on the Argus Pro.
The screen is bright and easy to read, with everything laid out nice and plainly.
The same basic features and button combinations are available on the Argus Pro that were available on the Drag S too, so there is a lot of familiarity here, which let’s face it, just makes it even easier to use!
- On / Off – Five clicks of the power button
- Change mode – Click the fire button x3 times. Changes between “Smart” and “RBA” mode as well as Button mode and Auto Draw mode for both.
- Adjust Wattage – use the up/down buttons
- Reset Puff Counter – Press Fire button and down button
- Lock device – Press Fire and up button together will lock the device.
- Software version screen – Press all 3 buttons together.
Pros
- Excellent build quality
- Excellent flavour
- Interesting outdoorsy styling
- Increased battery size
- Very comfortable
- Uses Voopoo’s PnP coils
Cons
- A little seepage
- Gimmicky tank protector
- Gimmicky lanyard/belt clip
- Annoying flap over charge port
Conclusion
I was a little sceptical at first, with the Argus Pro simply seeming to be a newer version of the Drag S, but it’s shown itself to be a improved enough that it warrants it’s own title. I was pleased to see the various increases in both Power output and battery size, now going up to 80 Watts instead of 60, and having a larger battery than the original Drag S.
The Argus Pro also now has an RBA mode, where the Drag S only had Smart Wattage mode, and thankfully the Button fire and Auto-Draw have been retained!
Some of the more gimmicky stuff wasn’t really my thing, the lanyard loop is a bit strange, and I’d never use it, yet I found myself fidgeting with it quite often. The silicone Pod protector was a complete waste of time, and is more than likely going to simply fall off than ever protect your Pod during a fall, and the silicone flap covering the USB charge port is just plain annoying.
Where to Buy
You can pick up the Voopoo Argus Pro through Health Cabin and their online store for around the $35 AUD (make sure you login). It’s quite an impressive setup for that price range.
