Vandy Vape Pulse AIO.5 Review by Bob

Hello folks and welcome back for today’s review of the Pulse AIO.5 Kit that was sent to me from HealthCabin for review. The Pulse AIO.5 is a updated version from the original Pulse AIO having a stronger frame with a metal interface for the 510 nut and having a updated chipset as well. The Pulse AIO.5 can be customized with different panels and a 2nd set made for the round button is included in the kit, also this kit includes a round button with matching inner panel. For you temperature control users there are TC power modes including TCR along with other power modes ( Smart, Wattage, Voltage, Bypass ). There are 2 versions available with 1 having the Vessel Tank for drop in VVC coils with the other version having a RBA Vessel Tank as well as the standard Vessel Tank. The Pulse AIO.5 has a maximum power output of 80 watts and is powered using either a 21700, 20700 or 18650 battery, a 18650 battery adaptor is included in the kit. There’s a lot to cover on this review so lets get started with some information from VandyVape and then I’ll give you my assessment of the Pulse AIO.5 Kit with my honest review. So let’s get started the Vandy Vape Pulse AIO.5 Review together!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I have to give a big thumbs up on how the Pulse AIO.5 Kit is packaged showing both looks with the 2 panels and buttons displayed on the front and back of the package through clear plastic letting you see how each button and panel will look prior to opening.

Everything is very neatly packaged with all your accessories that put in a White box, there are 2 versions of the AIO.5 with 1 version having only the VVC drop in coil Vessel Tank supplied and the other version having a RBA Vessel Tank and the VVC coil Tank supplied, I received the standard edition with both Vessel Tanks. You also get a user manual along with a paper telling you not to tighten the 510 nut too tight to avoid cracking of the top of the frame.

As I mentioned earlier you can see how the other supplied panel and button will look, the AIO.5 ships with the square button and panel preinstalled on the device, changing the button, button panel and device panels are very easy to do which I’ll show you later on in the review. The front and back panels are held on using 4 strong magnets located on each of the 4 corners.

If you get the standard version the RBA Vessel Tank will ship preinstalled in the device as well as the 18650 battery adapter. The Pulse name and a Tony B project is printed inside the back inner portion below the Vessel Tank, no branding of any kind is on the outside of the device.

Before I cover the Pulse AIO.5 device I’d like to go over both of the Vessel Tanks. The VVC drop in coil Vessel Tank holds a good amount of juice being 5ml in capacity and the coils don’t need any special lining up, just push them in after priming with a few drops of juice. Filling is done by pulling a rubber plug located in front toward the top, the fill port is of good size. The airflow control is located on the bottom of the tank and has knurling making it easier to adjust airflow. The 0.3Ω VVC coil comes preinstalled in the drop in coil Vessel Tank.

You can view your liquid levels from front or back, when viewing from the back you only can see half of the tank so if you see no liquid your juice is half empty or lower, if you see no juice fill it.

Included in the kit are 2 NI-80 coils with a 2.5 diameter with a 0.4Ω resistance and I decided to use one for testing, I guess with tight fitment you could use it as a dual coil but that’s not what it’s intended for. In the picture below the airflow control in black and is removed and the deck is screwed on a coil jig, having a 510 pin to screw on a mod or jig really helps when doing a build.

The coil cutting jig that comes with the kit is marked for 6 as your position to cut the coil legs which I did but found the coil to be high when installed on the deck so I pulled it out and cut the legs at the 5 position and it fit much better nestled in the honeycomb.

This RBA Vessel Tank uses gravity to feed the cotton with juice with 4 holes, 1 being on each corner of the tank. Keep the cotton fluffy or you will end up with a mess and flooding of the tank. Very little thinning of the tails is needed, when cutting the cotton cut it just past the white O-ring surrounding the base and gently tuck the cotton into the wells.

I had to space the coil a great deal to get it to fit. Even though this updated RBA Vessel Tank has a O-ring helping to keep the tank connected to the base it’s not a very tight sealing connection so I advise you to only fill it after it’s installed in the device.

Now that both tanks have been covered it’s time to discuss the AIO.5 device. Up top on the original some people had cracking issues because of overtightening of the 510 nut so VandyVape beefed up the connection with a metal plate ( remember folks finger tight in plenty ). VandyVape also used a stronger polycarbonate material called Lexan EXL 1434T.

The supplied 510 nut tool works just fine to unscrew and tighten the 510 nut when pulling either of the tanks. The other end of the tool can be used as a coil removal assist tool for people with manual dexterity issues as well.

Once either tank is removed you’ll notice a Gold screw at the bottom of the tanks position, this screw is used for fitment of other Boro styled tanks which I think is a very nice bonus to the AIO.5 device.

A great feature of this device is the ability to use 3 different sized batteries ( 21700-20700-18650 ). If using a 18650 you need to use the supplied battery adapter. Battery polarity is very easily seen because it’s marked with a White + and – symbol, I wish this was a standard on all devices.

Airflow is fed to the tank and coil using 3 slots and 2 holes on the side where the fire button is located which can lead to covering them up if not careful. If your left handed it’s best to finger fire the device using your index finger having the airflow away from your hand, however if your right handed thumb firing works best for the same reason of keeping the airflow away from your hand.

As earlier mention this kit gives you 2 different looks with a 2nd set of plates and the 2nd front plate has a round opening, to use the round opening plate a round button and round button panel must be used.

Its very easy to switch out the button and button panel by removing 3 screws using the provided tool. I really wish the round button had a outer cover with a pulse design like the square one does, I think the space surrounding the button isn’t large enough though.

Having a easy to navigate menu system is also a very big plus on this device, I have to really give Tony B a very big thumbs up on doing a great job with designing this kit.

Because the panel that has the design on it is semi transparent you can see the readout from the display screen, this is only on the panel with the design not on the black panel.

I like both panels and don’t really have a favorite of the two but I don’t like the drip tip that comes with the AIO.5 and that’s why there are no pictures of it on the device except for 1.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS

This is a pretty feature packed kit with 2 different appearances to choose from and on the standard version 2 different tanks. Having 3 battery choice options just add to the bonuses of this kit. Many people have Billet Box type devices from different manufacturers and some of you have personal favorite Boro tanks, well being able to use them in the AIO.5 by using the fitment adjustment screw is another big plus.

I have had no leaks from either the RBA Vessel Tank or the VVC Vessel Tank, however I wish the O-ring connecting the base with the tank on the RBA one made a better connection. One thing to point out is when filling with a 100ml bottle you can’t really see the tanks so fill slowly to avoid a mess.

There is plenty of airflow even though it’s rather noisy but smooth having no turbulence. Adjusting your airflow can be tough because there’s not a lot of space to work with, I used a small screwdriver on the RBA Vessel Tank when adjusting.

Flavor on the RBA was good as well as the VVC, the coils performed just fine. Using a 21700 battery gave me 4 days of use on average, I thought something was wrong because the battery bar never moved until the 2nd day of using. I like that you can force the device to check if it’s a new coil or a old one.

Fitment in the hand is good being not too big or small and having that just right feel to it. Because of it’s size it fits into pockets easily. Overall I liked the Pulse AIO.5 Kit and have enjoyed running it through it’s paces reviewing it.
