Uwell Caliburn GK2 & GK2 Vision Review by Bob-Cover

Once again I say hello and welcome back for today’s review of 2 Pod devices from UWELL called the GK2 and GK2 Vision. They are basically the same device but one has a semi transparent body with raised lettering while the other is smooth to the touch with no ability to see inside the device. Both of these are in the KOKO lineup and each house a internal 690mAh battery that charges quickly using 2A charging. If your not a fan of bright LED lights I’m sorry to tell you both have these as well with no ability to turn them off, they do serve a function though by using them as a battery strength meter and letting you know the pod is securely attached to the device. Let’s get started the Uwell Caliburn GK2 & GK2 Vision Review together.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When I opened the shipping box the devices came in I was surprised to see the GK2 was in the color Pink which is not a favorite color of mine but is for my niece so she will be getting a device. The GK2 Vision was sent in the Aurora Green color that is very vibrant. Packaging is very basic and it should be with a easy simple device as these two are. Both ship with lanyards so if you use them your in luck. The spare coil, charge cord, paper info as well as the lanyard are underneath the devices.

The first I did was plug these in to check how full the charge was when shipped and it took maybe 10 minutes each to come to a full charge. I knew it was full because of the haptic feedback I heard once it reached full capacity, I like having haptic feedback on a device and UWELL does a great job implementing it on their devices that use it.

When charging, vaping or installing the pod the LED lights illuminate with a few colors, the first color shows the strength of the battery followed by other colors that pulsate for a very short time, there is no way to turn the lights off of the light show following the first battery strength light.

BATTERY STRENGTH COLORS

  • GREEN – 100 – 60% FULL
  • BLUE – 60 – 30% FULL
  • RED – UNDER 30%

The information listed on the what’s in the box information from the manufacturer for the GK2 Vision is not correct regarding the preinstalled coil, the preinstalled coil is the 0.8Ω mesh coil not the 1.2Ω coil, that coil is preinstalled in the GK2. UWELL puts a protective sticker on the bottom of the preinstalled coils as a safety precaution for accidental firing during shipping. You have to remove the stickers for the coil to fire, the photo below shows both stickers removed. Both of these coils are G-Coils and are some of the best if not the best for drop in MTL coils in the market today.

Both of these are pretty much the same device except for the textured feel of the GK2 Vision, the air feed holes are exactly the same and in the same location on both devices You have probably noticed there are no buttons and that’s because they are auto draw only and the correct wattage is applied to the coil in play automatically. Inside the device are 2 auto draw air feed tubes and by the way the auto draw works great on both.

Both the GK2 and GK2 Vision have adjustable airflow via a adjustment wheel located on the pod itself, this keeps the device snag free as well as giving it a seamless free flowing appearance. Once set the airflow stays in position because it’s sitting inside the device. This airflow system is only for MTL vaping and can be set for a pretty loose or very tight MTL vape, you can install the pod with the airflow control wheel being on either side of the device but I prefer it right next to the small air feed hole located on the side of these devices.

UWELL uses a top fill system that is one of my favorites, the mouthpiece snaps off revealing the fill port that is covered with a red membrane, the other small hole is for air to escape when filling, this system works very well but fill slowly not to cause juice to come out of the small air escape hole. When finished filling just snap the mouthpiece back on and begin vaping. You don’t have to remove the pod to fill it, the mouthpiece actually breaks off easier when the pod is installed into the mod.

On the bottom is where the USB-C charge port is located and that’s a good spot for it because these are so lightweight they would probably tip over if the charge port was in any other location. There are 3 holes used for battery ventilation on the bottom across from the charge port.

Both devices have a lanyard attachment hook on the top corner away from the mouthpiece, I don’t use lanyards so I can’t tell you how they perform. I normally frown on lanyard hooks on mods but these don’t look bad at all and really don’t mind them being there.

These 2 devices really disappear in a hand making them perfect stealth vapors except the vapor is anything but stealthy, I’m still amazed at the amount of vapor that these tiny coils produce as well as fantastic saturated flavor that are produced. ( FANTASTIC COILS )

FINAL IMPRESSIONS

I have been a fan of UWELL devices in the past because they always seem to work very well and I feel Uwell goes the extra mile with the features it installs in their devices. These two KOKO GK2 devices have proved that point again as you read in my cons of these devices which have zero, yes I could have gave them a strike for the added LED light show after the initial light showing battery strength but it’s so short of a light show I didn’t see the point.

Having a haptic vibration feedback is icing on the cake that doesn’t have to be in their devices but they put it in anyway and I applaud them for it. It’s so nice in our busy life to hear that familiar buzz letting you know the device is fully charged and at 2A it charges very quickly and is ready to vape again.

I will continue to use the GK2 Vision along with the 2 Tenet devices from UWELL I reviewed for Heathcabin not to long ago, as far as the Pink GK2 goes my niece is a very happy person knowing it will be hers now the review has posted. I recommend both of these devices 100%. I would like to thank Sue and Healthcabin for providing both of these GK2 KOKO devices for the purpose of this review. Both devices can be purchased at Heathcabin and I will leave a link for both of them below.
