You might have caught my review of the new Caliburn A2 pod the other day, well, in usual Uwell form, they’ve also released a different form factor pod device to go along with it, and as always, it carries the name Koko.
The previous Koko’s have very much been the Caliburn in a different form factor. Same specs, same Pods, same everything, it’s just that they are shaped differently, with a shorter, squarer shape rather than the traditional Caliburn stick design. The AK2 is no different.
Let’s take a look at Uwell’s Caliburn AK2 Koko Pod!
Big thanks goes to the legends at Health Cabin, for sending this through for me to review!

General Info
Just like it’s brother, the Caliburn A2, the Koko AK2 has a total output of 15 watts, takes the same pods that have a 2ml e-liquid capacity, and fires in auto-draw mode. In fact the only real differences between the A2 and the AK2 is the lack of fire button on the Koko, and the form factor.
The Body
Made from an aluminium alloy, the new Koko is lightweight, really lightweight. You can easily throw this into a pocket and not even notice it is there. Very portable.
Up top is of course the Pod recess, this time around rather than the Pods friction fitting, they snap down into place with magnets holding it in firmly. There’s also a lanyard loop at the top, so that you’ve got somewhere to loop your lanyard through if you use one.
A little lower down the device, on the front face, you’ll find an e-liquid window, a welcome addition to the new version, just like the Caliburn A2 has, it makes life a lot easier instead of needing to pop your pod in and out to check how much e-liquid you have left. The rest of the device is pretty clean, with just the USB Type C charge port on the bottom.
Design-wise, the new Koko has a nice satin/matt metallic coating, that is smooth, but not completely, giving you a little grip, and making sure your fingerprints don’t ruin the finish while using it. Wrapped around the main panel are diagonal stripes polished to a gloss, with the word “Caliburn” emblazoned over the top. It’s interesting that Uwell have used that on here, considering most refer to these devices as “Koko”. Perhaps they are trying to emphasise that this is in fact a Caliburn just another form factor in the same range.
The PODs
I went over the Pods in my Caliburn A2 review, but just quickly, they are all new Pods, not usable in any previous Caliburn devices, except for the Caliburn A2 and Caliburn AK2 (this). There is currently only the one grade of Pod, with it’s resistance range coming in at 0.9ohms, a nice middle ground for MTL and restricted DTL users. I’m expecting that Uwell will release some other resistance ranges at some point, but for the time being, this is what we have.
The mouth piece of the new pods is reminisce of the original Caliburn pods, with a more contoured shape to it, still a little rounded like the Caliburn G, but a little more defined.
The mouthpiece snaps off just like the original, in order to fill, the only real change here is that the fill port now has a red silicone seal to help avoid any leakage.
Airflow
The airflow is again very similar to the Caliburn A2, with the very same MTL almost restricted DTL draw. It is a little tighter than the original Caliburn and Koko, so will suit those who like a tighter MTL vape a little better. Don’t expect a really tight draw here though. It’s still a little loose, but much better than the original.
The air comes in from the side of the device, up under the Pod and through the holes in the bottom, providing some excellent flavour, and smooth slightly turbulent airflow.
Battery
The internal battery of the Koko AK2 is 520mah in size, just like the Caliburn A2, which is pretty small, but considering you are using a high resistance pod with it, you’ll get a full day of vaping out of it easily. Plus it charges pretty quick due to the small battery size. An hour will get it charged no problem.
This time around, Uwell have provided a battery indicator light, letting you know how far drained your battery is, which is a nice touch, and sorely needed on the previous versions. You can find this LED down by the base of the device on the same edge as the air inlet. The three coloured battery indicators show the battery level as below:
- Green: 60-100%
- Blue: 30-60%
- Red: 0-30%
Filling
Filling. It’s as simple as the original. Just snap off the mouthpiece, and fill using the red silicone fill port. Too easy.
Any Leaks?
The new pods that the Caliburn AK2 uses have improved structure, and better leak resistance. Leaking was a big problem on the original, and I’m pleased to say, that I’ve had no leaking at all with the AK2. Excellent work on this Uwell.
Pros
- Sleek and stylish
- Lovely finish
- Dual firing, button and auto-draw
- Nice airflow level
- Leak Proof pods
- USB Type C charge port
- New e-liquid window
- New battery light indicator
- Ergonomic mouth piece
Cons
- Airflow is slightly loose so vapers who like ultra tight MTL airflow, will not like this.
Conclusion
Just like the Caliburn A2, I’m pretty well impressed by the AK2 Koko. It operates and behaves just like it’s the brother the Caliburn A2, just without the option of using a button to fire. It is auto-draw only. Not an issue and the auto-draw works extremely well.
I wasn’t impressed with the original Caliburn and Koko versions due to their more open airflow and leaky Pods, but Uwell have done a great job on refining both of those things in these and I’m well pleased.
Where to Buy
Since Health Cabin sent this through for me to review, I’ll give a shoutout to them and link to their site for those of you looking to pick up a Caliburn AK2 Koko. Health Cabin have them listed for $37.80 AU, which is a pretty good price for also getting x2 pods and a lanyard with the kit.
