FIrst thoughts
The mod itself feels pretty rugged with the rubber overmold and has stood up to a week of being my companion whilst doing some fairly serious house renovations. It does seem to a bit of a dirt magnet with dust happily sticking to the rubber.
I do like the size and look of the mod though. It fits nicely in my fairly large paws and is easy to hold, not too heavy but weighty enough to feel solid.
The pod itself is 5.5mls with a top fill “bung” and adjustable airflow and hasn’t leaked so far! It clips in and out and seems to be held securely.
On the main body is a large color display with the mode, wattage, battery and puff count on it as well as the up/down and fire buttons.
Usage
The usual 5 clicks of the fire button turns the device on and off and the Up/down buttons change the settings for the mode you are in
3 clicks of the fire button will allow you to alter the modes with the up/down button to cycle through these are (in order)
- Power
- TC-SS
- TC-TCR
- Variable Power curve mode (VPC)
- Bypass mode
- To alter settings in each mode, press the fire button to step through each setting and use up/down to alter them.
- Fire button and up/down brightens/dims the display
- Holding the fire button with up and down together puts it into stealth mode.
- Holding up and down together will lock the adjustments it will still fire though.
- There are numerous display colours available, press the fire button three times to highlight the mode, then press up and down together to cycle through them.
Weeks test thoughts
The coils seemed good to around around 40ml of juice through them before it started to lose flavour, although it was still useable long after that.
Airflow is ok when wide open for DTL but not quite loose enough for my tastes. MTL is another matter, you cannot get it closed down enough to produce a good tight draw. (IMO but if you like a very loose MTL then it would be good for you)
I do have a couple of issues with the pod. It looks cool in with the smoked plastic but does make it difficult to see the juice level unless you hold it up to a bright light. Secondly the airflow position being on the end of the pod makes the draw feel very one sided if you draw from it held sideways (to be fair I don’t see many people holding it that way, but still…)
That said I found myself liking it more and more as the week progressed, filling is easy, no leaking and tasted great with plenty of clouds.
For me it’s a great plus that the Boost uses an external 18650 as I can have a spare with me. I’m sure some prefer an internal battery, especially if it’s their first/only device. Battery life was around 275 puffs running at 30w which is far better than my lost vape Genesis hybrid.
I’m not sure if there’s an RBA available for the plus yet and tbh I would get one if it became available as I’m not a huge fan of pre built coils as I’m a tightwad!
Bottom line is I’ll be carrying on using the Boost plus till I kill it!
