Kumiho Thoth T Review By Vaperina_Kinga

This time, courtesy of HealthCabin, I brought you a little novelty, namely the THOTH T POD set manufactured by Kumiho, which eerily resembles a pocket radio, which the manufacturer is also aware of, and in fact, it was created with the intention of doing so. On the manufacturer’s website, THOTH T is referred to as Radio Vape or Rock the puffs as advertising. They are a very good-natured manufacturer, because they seem to understand the joke, but they also take their products quite seriously and their products are accompanied by maximum expertise. The THOTH T only got a 1300mAh battery, but it lasts much longer than I first thought. It sends a maximum of 35 watts to the atomizer, which of course only goes hand in hand with the lowest resistance. For the POD heads, the device sets the wattage based on ohms, which it does perfectly! It can be operated with both a vacuum switch and a fire button, the aeration ranges from MTL to loose RDL. Of course, Kumiho also thought about protection, so the THOTH T ticking chip protects against overcharging, short circuit, low voltage, and even open circuit! By the way, the latter means that it does not glow without a POD head, because of course the circuit is open then, but it sounds very nice that it is protection against an open circuit…

Available in 5 colors, each of which is simple and understated. These are Armor Black (black), Jungle Green (dark green), Space Gray (gray), Artic Silver (silver) and Eggplant Purple (purple). Of these, Artic Silver came to me. Well, then there was nothing left but forward! Let’s see!

Contents of the box and introduction to the device

There is almost nothing in the box, only the device, with a 2ml PCTG POD head equipped with a factory-installed 0.8 ohm atomizer, a metal necklace, and a short instruction manual under the foam that hides the device. The lack of equipment is not a shortcoming, because this device does not need anything else to use or maintain it.

The necklace is quite difficult to put on and take off, because the holes to hang it in are located in the immediate vicinity of the fire button, so it is a bit difficult to access, and the chain is also unreasonably long. But fortunately, it is not mandatory to use it, so this is not a negative, just a subjective comment.

On the right side of the device is the air control slider, which in its fully open state has 3 holes, which get smaller and smaller as you go down. And on the left side of the device is the USB-C charging port along with an indicator LED, which is hidden by the small hole above the port. The device (according to the manufacturer) is theoretically capable of fast charging, but unfortunately not in practice.

The THOTH T comes with a POD head with a 0.8 atomizer. We connect it to the mod with the usual magnetic solution, i.e. we simply drop it into the device. The magnet is extremely strong and holds the POD heads super well. There are 3 feeding holes on the inside atomizer, 1 on each side and 1 in front. There is none at the back of the filling hole, so it is advisable to use it when there is very little liquid in it, so that the front of the POD head is in the direction where we will tilt the THOTH T, so it can be completely emptied.

I also received POD heads with 0.6, 1.0, and 1.2 ohm resistance, besides which 0.4 ohm resistance is also available. On the HealthCabin website, you can choose between 2 and 3 ml versions, as well as black or transparent versions. By the way, these POD heads hide mesh atomizers, which adds a lot to the experience.

At Kumiho, fun and stress relief were considered important, which is why THOTH T also received a fidget spinner with the just for fun logo. Personally, I think it’s nice and funny, and the idea is absolutely viable, because I played with it for quite a while, until it fell off on the first day of the test. In this case, the fidget spinner is not as high-quality as the other segments of the POD, moreover, it happened a few hours after opening the package, so it is not the result of my test. It is held in place by a simple magnet, which could not be moved from its place at first poke, but the more I played with it, the weaker it became, so unfortunately this has the first negative. I took it off so I wouldn’t leave it somewhere.

The test started with the 0.8 ohm POD head that comes with it from the factory, which has a transparent PCTG cover, where you can see perfectly how much 2ml is. You can max it out so that there is very little or no air left in it, but then it starts to make quite a strong hissing sound, which does disappear during later use, and it doesn’t even leave the completely leak-free POD head in liquid form, but it’s still worth leaving a little air bubble. in order to avoid possible grinding.

For the second time, I tested the 1.2 ohm POD head, where I no longer experienced the above-mentioned grinding noise, which was able to occur with the previous POD head even with so few air bubbles. Despite the fact that the cover is not transparent, the level of the liquid in it is perfectly visible, although I think it created a nicer overall picture with the transparent one, but it’s not bad either.

Since the device calibrates the watts sent to the atomizer to the ohms, and not to the aeration, the experience is not characterized by cold vapor at all, but I wouldn’t call the constant warm vapor dangerous, you could say it’s natural for such devices.

However, after a while, a little condensation appears under the POD head in the device, which is also not dangerous, but it does not disappear even with the higher resistance POD head, and it has a small negative yield, but I will explain that later.

The device itself, or more precisely the set, was given a virtual tour. As you can see, there isn’t much to it, so let’s jump to the most important point of the test.

Experience report

The housing of the THOTH T is made of zinc alloy and, in some places, of polycarbonate plastic, it is not terribly uncomfortable to hold when holding it in the fist, being a brick body, but it can be felt that the curves are not rounded enough in some places. The fire button is not overly sensitive, nor is it so easy to press, it has a noticeable resistance, which makes it feel quite sharp, and it doesn’t really want to be pressed in a bag, unless something is straining it, although the chance of this is small due to the protruding mouth part. The air control slider is also prominent, it does not shift due to any external influence. Its weight isn’t bad either, but since it’s not 100% plastic, it’s probably not the lightest POD on the market, but it gives me a good quality impression, considering the quality and usability of the buttons. The fidget spinner on it is the weakest link on the device, even though it was really fun to play with it, if only for a short time, but as usual something always goes wrong with my test subjects, so maybe I’m glad that this time ONLY that and nothing else broke , or the construction was not bad in the first place! Its appearance and design can be quite divisive, because who still uses a pocket radio today? But at the same time, it was a bit of a departure from the world of frothy beans and color gradients with flickering displays that characterizes the market today. That’s why, for me, this design is quite trendy, not ordinary, maybe even a little retro, but that’s why it’s so cool!

To put it into use, as a first step, I charged the factory-supplied POD head, whose charging port is so huge that we can comfortably charge it from anything. I waited approx. 10 minutes, and after I put it back in place, the test started. The first 4-5 slurps were extremely hot and came quickly, but then, as soon as the device figured out exactly how many POD heads were in it, the performance immediately decreased. Upon inhalation, the vacuum switch is activated literally immediately and activates the atomizer with extremely powerful intensity. It works the same way with a fire button, but during inhalation only one of the atomizers in the POD head is driven at the same time, which is none other than the vacuum switch. Even when I wanted to use it with the fire button, it took over as soon as I inhaled it. This does not interfere with the experience at all, you can only notice that if you let go of the fire button while smoking, it continues with the same intensity as if the fire button were just a visual element. However, if the fire button is held down after the slukk is finished, it continues to atomize as if the button were the primary one, but in fact it is a game of chik-chik between the fire button and the vacuum switch. So, actually, the vacuum switch is the primary one, the fireball is only there for those who might not be able to get used to being activated by suction, but it starts atomizing anyway, but as soon as we inhale, the vacuum switch takes over the role. I think it’s great that they thought of everyone, but in my opinion, there should have been a button, or a slider, or something that would help us decide which one we want to use.

Due to its size and design, the fire button itself is a little wobbly, but this is not significant and can be said to be natural for such a design. However, it is not felt during use, nor does it want to fall, like a fidget spinner, so we can say that it is exactly like this, but I do not mean this in a bad way. Turning the THOTH T on and off is the same with 5 quick button presses, but we cannot use the fire button for anything other than this and the glow, which is not a disadvantage, because it is a semi-mecha POD that is capable of so many functions. The air openings can be closed individually with the help of the air control slider, but you can also shoot in by half-closing only one and leaving the one(s) below it fully open. In this way, from the largest hole to the smallest, we get aeration that can be narrowed from a pleasant RDL to a slightly wide MTL, which, although not specifically fine-tunable, is perfectly satisfactory compared to the resistance of the POD heads, and this much air is needed for the intensity with which the device itself works. In addition, the aeration slider can be completely closed, the atomizer in the POD head gets a little air, and thus it is much closer to the classic MTL, but it can still be said to be quite spacious in comparison.

The indicator LED is white, which can be a bit blinding if, for example, it indicates the discharge and we are just looking at it, which, by the way, it lets us know by flashing 10 times. In addition, 5 more flashes if the POD head is not in it, or it does not detect it for some reason, and 8 flashes if the 8-second delay time is over. When it ends, as usual, the device immediately cuts off the power supply, so it will suddenly be very easy to breathe through the POD head, but due to the intensity of atomization and the ever-increasing heating, I don’t think that the maxed out time will be typical for others. And if you put the POD head in it, that’s all.

• Small and compact size. It can be said to be quite small with its 48x23x78mm, but this is an advantage in this case. It doesn’t stick out anywhere, it fits in almost every pocket, and its dimensions are quite comfortable even compared to our hands.
• Easy use. It’s easy not only because it’s a semi-mecha without a display, so you don’t have to search through the menu, but also because thanks to the vacuum switch, you literally don’t have to do anything other than suck and blow out.
• Excellent uptime. When I saw that the otherwise 1300mAh device would come with a 0.8 ohm POD head, I honestly didn’t think anything of the one-day operating time, because with such a power, the battery runs out of juice in no time. But since these are mesh atomizers, they can be said to be economical. So, if the 0.8 ohm was used for 1.5 days and the 1.2 ohm for 2 days, then the 0.6 ohm will last about 1 day. In this case, the manufacturer is right about the all-day operating time, but they only counted on the minimum.
• Long-lasting small capacity. At first glance, I underestimated the THOTH T in terms of volume, because based on RTAs, 2ml is only enough for a few hours for me, but Kumiho refuted this with its mesh atomizers.
• Easy reloading. The dimensions of the filling opening of the POD heads could be adopted by another manufacturer, because it is compatible with all my bottles (including the large dropper pharmacy in my bohemian), and thanks to this, it does not spill, it does not make you neck-deep in liquid, and of course you do not have to wipe anything afterwards because of this.
• It can also be used with a button and a vacuum switch. This is great because it takes time to get used to all new things. Those who have been pressing the fire button for years since the beginning of their vape career must take some time to get used to being able to bring their favorite flavors to life even with a puff. The double fire button and vacuum switch help with this.
• High intensity, outstanding experience. The device can squeeze out a maximum of 35 watts, but since this will be calculated for us by a chip, which it cannot see, because it has no eyes, that this is not a typical wire, but an energy-saving small mesh plate, which does not charge nearly as much as it sends to it. . This is an advantage because, with increased intensity, we can enjoy experiences that we would otherwise have to take back from the wattage with a controllable mod. You can see and feel that this is the only way to get the best out of a mesh atomizer that can cool properly during use, and THOTH T knows this very well!
• Completely leak-free POD heads. Perhaps the biggest positive, which, in addition to the many smaller positives, is the party of THOTH T! There may be gurgling if you accidentally overfill, but it will not flow at all, because the POD heads themselves have been equipped with enough seals to prevent the liquid from leaking even if it eats a lot. This is also the reason that the squealing that occurs disappears over time, because the only thing left to do is for the excess to slowly evaporate. The manufacturers could also adopt this, it would save many fellow vapers from a lot of frustration!
• PCTG material POD heads. PCTG is a great material because it tolerates high temperatures very well, which it doesn’t transmit, so it won’t burn your mouth during use. In addition, it is also shockproof, so we don’t have to worry about our POD heads if we accidentally drop them.
• Good scratch resistance. It’s probably already well known that if I test something, it comes with me everywhere, I expose it to whatever impact it can and I don’t hesitate to put it in my pocket or bag next to my keys. It was no different with THOTH T. I’ve had it in my pocket next to my work key ring for days and it doesn’t look like it’s been worn at all. Of course, I’m not saying that it can’t be scratched, just that it’s very, very difficult, so it’s absolutely durable.

• Warming POD head. There are those who won’t be bothered by it, there are those who like it, and I am the one who really feels good from the cold steam. This heating, as I wrote above, is the result of the vacuum switch, the closed POD housing and the high output power. But at least it’s not blazing hot, and thanks to the PCTG material POD head, it’s absolutely bearable, even for me, but it’s not what I’m used to, but it might be wiser to treat this as just a subjective opinion, because it’s not a fault, but an inherent part of the construction.
• Due to high heat, some precipitation occurs. However, this is more of a design flaw, because the device itself does not heat up as much as the POD head, so the vapor of the liquid will condense towards the cool surface, which also occurs here. Not to mention, it sometimes hinders the work of the vacuum switch. Even the design of the device’s connector is considered a bit difficult. But as soon as we managed to wipe out the condensate, everything runs smoothly again. Although I would have been happy if it didn’t happen, and I don’t have to describe this, because it is the main counter against THOTH T!
• Weak fidget spinner. Would it be a cheap game? Maybe. But it’s pretty fun compared to that, so I’m fine.

Finally, I would just like to say that the 1.2 ohm POD head worked best for me, because on the one hand, it lasted the longest in terms of liquid and operating time, and on the other hand, it warmed up the least. The whole device went completely against my user habits, but it was still a pleasure to use! The taste and vapor experience are at the forefront! Therefore, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Kumiho THOTH T POD set to all MTL and RDL fans who are looking for a small, compact, and not at all ordinary retro, and last but not least wooden, simple pocket radio that can not only be used to listen to music, but even more so to vape!
